Where to live in Leeds?

Leeds has a huge student population, with students attending universities such as Leeds Beckett, University of Leeds, Leeds Art University and Leeds Trinity University, as well as the various colleges located in the city.

Students live all over Leeds, some choose location over quality whilst some don’t mind a longer commute if it means they have accommodation of a higher standard. Hyde Park, Headingley and Woodhouse are popular areas with students, whilst Headingley, Burley and Kirkstall are a common choice for professionals but all areas accommodate permanent residents and families.

On the whole, most of the Leeds areas have thriving communities, with an abundance of shops, pubs, parks and restaurants. Transport is very convenient throughout Leeds.

Making a decision on where to live in such a large city may be overwhelming, but you should take into consideration a couple of points:

  1. Price – what can you afford? Different areas are more expensive than others.
  2. Transport links – do you need links to city centre for work or study? Do you need easy access to the motorway?
  3. Crime rate – student areas are known for burglaries, but you should check if the properties are secure i.e. burglar alarms, locks, double glazed windows etc
  4. Lifestyle – It’s not just about having a house to live in, think about your lifestyle and what area works best for you, do you attend the gym regularly, do you need a nearby library, do you like exploring?

Our properties are located in Headingley, Hyde Park and Burley, but you should explore the city and find the perfect area for you. Other popular areas for students are (but not limited to):

  • Chapel Allerton
  • City Centre
  • Horsforth
  • Kirkstall
  • Meanwood
